Keeping this open - hoping to reach original goal
Our needs are so enormous right now that I am keeping this open in hopes of reaching my ORIGINAL goal of 2k - but to those who have helped, my undying gratitude - I am so excited about moving into an empty house and being surrounded by my precious rescues, burying my face in their fur and just loving them. this has been the hardest thing I have ever lived through and it's not the stuff - if it had been just me and a house - let it burn but my dogs lost their security, their home, their safe haven, they are LOST and do not understand why they are ONCE AGAIN caged like they were in the pound - no more beds and sofa privileges, no more yard to run in at their leisure, no more unlimited play with their "siblings" it is so hard to see the look of hurt and fear on their faces. I could honestly care less about things - they mean nothing but a means to comfort for them. Thank you to everyone for helping us.
New needs as we move on from the fire
Someone from out of state is loaning me the money (pending reimbursement by the insurance company to move). However, because we lost everything and insurance will not pay the full value of things lost - they will (I forget the word) but devalue everything by it's age, a 20 year old refrigerator may only be worth $10 I now need sheets, blankets, beds, crates, dishes (large bowls non plastic (they will chew plastic) bowls for the dogs - thrift store, used, is WONDERFUL - furniture - eclectic mismatched is WONDERFUL and donations to Etowah to continue to pay the boarding until I can get all the dogs out.

Donations for fencing materials to repair the fence at the rental property.

As you can see we have fallen off the donation radar- so please pass this on

The dogs in this video are two of the three that are at the Suburban Extended Stay with me - - Scooter, the 16 year old is not shown - he is a pistol ball and I was afraid to try and manage all three near a busy highway AND talk to the reporter. Ranger is the shepherd looking boy (my first born) and Ozzie is the14 year old golden retriever - such a lover - he was hw positive VERY VERY heavy load of heartworms, periodontal disease - poor little man still has trouble periodically and I have to cook for him - I have struggled to keep his weight up because of this - just so very much neglect in his little life - he also had a .22 slug in his side - Dr.Orr removed it and it took MONTHS to heal - just drained and drained because the infection had gone so deep - he sat in animal control in Clayton County for SEVEN days with no medical attention - but he is wonderful now and my forever boy - no one will want him at his age but that's okay I do and I love him.

PLEASE SHARE THIS with anyone and everyone who might read it and help - I lowered my goal but still hope to get enough to fix the fence and move in. If another rescue can loan us the money, I will repay it when the insurance check comes in reimbursing me - I am definitely covered for 6 months of rent and the deposit and am HAPPY to repay it or even to redonate it on behalf of someone who helps HAPPY to - I know how great the need is everywhere but we so need to be reunited and get our lives back on track - back to the work of saving lives. 770-875-9659 Deb

FIRE TAKES EVERYTHING - RESCUER AND 14 DOGS BURNED OUT OF HOME - NEED HELP
Many of your have heard my story and contributed â?? some may not have â?? please pass this on to anyone who will read it. On January 11, my home burned â?? completely â?? gutted â?? I walked away with the clothes on my back and 16 dogs â?? I went into the fire time and time and time again to save the dogs.
They are now in boarding and I am trying to raise the money to get into a house AND finish paying for their boarding. They are they scared, lost, confused, losing weight and do not understand why we are separated again each time I see them.

caring4creatures, fur kids, Patsy, Liz, Kelly, Gloria, karen, Sandy, Barbara, so many of your have â?? clothed me â?? from jammies to tennis shoes helped with the dogs, so many more have donated to vetting. But the need is so great for us and the media did not explain how great, so I am trying this chip in. If I don't get a house and get the dogs out of boarding, I will not be ABLE TO AFFORD to get the out â?? they will hold them hostage for payment.

People were deeply moved the week of the crisis but the crisis lingers long after the excitement and adrenalin has faded. People move on when it's no longer in the news. The insurance will not pay for the dogs in boarding and although Etowah finally agreed to reduce their rates, it is still accruing at $150 per day for boarding. It is killing me. I am jobless on unemployment. I do some paralegal work to supplement the unemployment when I can get it but have not been able to do even that since the fire â?? I also did canine photography to help with bills but all my cameras were destroyed. The house is COMPLETELY gutted, gone.

ALL my time has been spent with the adjusters, contractors, twice a week treatments for the smoke inhalation (it was severe) and dramatically affected my thinking, memory and speech - and looking for someone CRAZY enough to rent to a big fat old graying redhead and 14 grown dogs â?? we don't even have the benefit of being â??cuteâ?? puppies â?? just big homeless dogs â?? my specialty is dogs that no one else wants to take on â?? they either have physical problems or behavior issues that I have been working with.

The other problem I have encountered is the insurance company. They will reimburse me but will NOT pay up front â?? which leaves me in a terrible position with renting a house. Donors have been very generous with the vet bills WHICH WAS AND IS MY MAIN CONCERN but now that the shock has numbed and I can sleep a few hours a night before the nightmares start I must secure this home I found, pay for it and start work on the fence - so we can be together again as a family â?? so these dogs are not stressing and wondering where their happy home went. I see them falling further and further behind every time I see them. Max has lost 7 lbs since he went into boarding. Boudreaux quit eating entirely for three days. Freckles bit a vet tech I am deeply troubled by their plight. This is in addition to the boarding continuing to accrue daily â?? but even that is less important than the heartache of my dogs â?? I can see it on their little faces every time I have to say goodbye â?? Mommy, don't you love us anymore? What did we do? I cannot explain to them that this is truly the best for them right now. I would sleep in a kennel if they would let me just to be near them.

The night after the fire, I brought my old men to the hotel with me. Scooter is 16 and Ozzie is 14. Ranger is my first born and he is 8. The three of us are in a Suburban Extended Stay â?? my three kings and I but we need this house DESPERATELY

I know it is meant to be but I so need your help to spread the word because I cannot do this alone. THE OTHER BIG PROBLEM IS THE FENCE. It is rickety and run down and far from secure for my boys and girls â?? I told him I would shore it up at my expense â?? use temporary hog wire or whatever I could afford and put together since it's a short time â?? relatively â?? I anticipate that it will cost me between $400 and $800 for supplies and my time â?? I can do the work but if ANYONE OUT THERE knows someone in Atlanta who has fencing materials or can help with labor please have them contact me 770-875-9659 or email deborahjwood@gmail.com.

Also, if ANYONE can loan me the money for the deposit and first month's rent â?? the insurance company WILL reimburse me and I can repay them the instant I get the check back from them. It seems like a totally ridiculous policy but it IS the policy of the insurer â?? I have â??loss of useâ?? coverage but I have to pay up front and get reimbursed. I can give you the landlord's name address and phone number â?? you can pay him directly and once I turn in his â??receiptâ?? they will process the reimbursement the same week they receive it and I should have it within days. I am happy to show anyone who will do this my policy limits page to reassure them. I promise, with 14 dogs, I am not going far at all!!!!

Please post and cross post my plea for help and hopefully it will get to people who have not been made aware of our plight.

I will also update my webpage this weekend as soon as I download the software onto this laptop â?? and without naming names â?? thank you so much to the gentleman who was so moved by our plight that he gave up his laptop to us â?? getting us back able to try and earn a living and in touch with the rescue world â?? I've already squeezed in one paralegal project this week and have another to start on!! God bless you. His wife is involved in rescue so this was his way of helping the dogs (and me) how very kind and generous.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED MAKE THIS HORRIBLY PAINFUL DISASTER BEARABLE â?? I HONESTLY COULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED THE PAIN HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR ALL OF YOU EMAILING, CALLING, AND IF YOU CALLED AND I DID NOT RETURN YOUR CALL â?? CALL AGAIN â?? it was not a slight only that I was so confused, scared, lonely and hurt â?? so hurt for these precious dogs.

The address of the vet is Etowah Veterinary Hospital 4953 Canton Rd Marietta, GA 30066 Phone 770-926-8888 â?? Nicole is the contact there - and my mailing address is still Deborah Wood 889 Trace Circle Marietta, GA 30066 â?? I check the mail every day â?? it's two miles to the vet from here and three to my â??formerâ?? house.
